Our Preschool program is open to all children ages 3 to 5. Preschool is held at the Bloomsburg Area YMCA. We are in session from September through June. Preschool generally follows the Bloomsburg Area School District calendar.

Classes for 3 to 4 years old meet twice for half day sessions per week and emphasize socialization, language development, independence and motor skills in a small group setting.

Classes for 4 to 5 years old offer two options: (a) meet twice for half day sessions per week or (b) meet three times for half day sessions per week. Both classes emphasize pre-kindergarten activities. Readiness, language development, social skills, pre-reading and printing, motor skills and work habits are all taught in a positive environment with emphasis on individual abilities. Each class participates in a regularly scheduled gym program.

Communication with parents is an important component of the program. Individual progress reports are sent home in January and June, and conferences and meetings are held as needed. A monthly newsletter keeps parents up-to-date on classroom activities, field trips and special events.

Classes are taught by Preschool Director Vicki Mihalik, a certified teacher with 38 years experience, 26 which have been with the YMCA. Cindy Flick, Preschool Assistant with24 years in the Preschool, assists with all aspects of the program. Class size averages 12-16 children.

Fees

• Two classes / Week - $72 per month for members / $ 87 per month for non-members.
